About The Consortium

img-aboutThe DC Cancer Consortium is a nonprofit, charity organization dedicated to reducing disproportionately high rates of cancer deaths and diagnoses in the District of Columbia. Through collaborative programs, we play a critical role as a comprehensive cancer services clearinghouse for the public and health care professionals. The  DC Cancer Control Plan directs our work to control cancer in the District and surrounding jurisdictions in the areas of prevention, improved treatment, survivorship support, and continued research.

Because high cancer mortality rates in the District can be traced to a lack of health care available to low-income people and racial minorities, DC Cancer Consortium strives to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in cancer treatment. To learn more about the Consortium’s work, read our at-a-glance brochure.

Membership in the DC Cancer Consortium is free and open to health- and cancer-oriented organizations, organizations that represent underserved or special populations, and individuals committed to the fight against cancer. Our members benefit from our professional education programs that focus on capacity-building to wage a more vigilant battle against cancer in medically underserved communities.
